In July 2008, the Harvard Stem Cell Institute iPS Core Facility was created to accelerate research in the stem cell field by facilitating the derivation and distribution of induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cell lines.
The iPS Core operates on a fee-for-service basis to provide investigators with customized iPS cells based on the latest cutting-edge stem cell technologies. We offer three non-integrating technologies (Sendai virus, microRNA/ modified mRNA, and episomal vector) for reprogramming of a variety of somatic cell types, as well as TALEN or CRISPR genome editing technologies. The iPS Core also serves as a repository for Harvard hESC lines, and both control and disease-specific hiPS cell lines.
All of these services are available to the global research community.
