Stem Cell COREdinates is proud to partner with MDI Biological Laboratory on our 1st hands-on workshop
“Gene Editing of Human PSCs”
We will cover the complete gene-editing workflow for human pluripotent stem cells:
Project design
Transfection of hPSCs
Analysis of edited cell pools
Clonal isolation
Picking, passaging, and freezing clones in 96-well plates
Screening and genotype confirmation
Quality control of final clones

We are excited to announce that the COREdinates symposium, “Tools for Basic and Applied Stem Cell Biology,” has been selected as part of the scientific program for the International Society for Stem Cell Research 2026 Annual Meeting.
The session will take place on Thursday, July 9, 2026, and will feature presentations from leaders in academia and industry highlighting emerging technologies and innovative approaches advancing stem cell research and applications.
Speakers include:
The symposium will be chaired by Barbara Corneo (Columbia University), Christopher Navara (UT San Antonio), and Laurent David (Nantes University).
We are incredibly proud to see COREdinates represented at ISSCR and grateful to everyone who helped make this possible. More updates coming soon!
COREdinates is launching a new monthly virtual series designed to connect stem cell core facilities, researchers, and trainees across institutions through scientific talks, troubleshooting clinics, technology spotlights, and discussions focused on stem cell core operations and innovation.
The series will feature topics including genome editing, iPSC reprogramming, pluripotency assessment, automation, quality control, differentiation strategies, reproducibility, and emerging technologies relevant to the stem cell community.
The first RePro session will take place on Wednesday May 13, 2026 at 10:00 EST, featuring Chris Mayhew (Cincinnati Children’s Hospital) presenting:
“Functional analysis of genomic safe harbor loci in human pluripotent stem cell-derived cells.”
Zoom Meeting ID: 603 417 8790
Passcode: will be posted on the listserv 10 minutes before the meeting
Additional programming and speaker announcements will follow soon.
We welcome suggestions for speakers, technologies, troubleshooting topics, and workshop ideas from the community.

The inaugural meeting of the New York Stem Cell Club will take place on June 12, 2026, at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (Stern Auditorium).
This new cross-institutional initiative brings together the NYC stem cell community for a full day of science, collaboration, and networking.
The trainee-led symposium will showcase cutting-edge research across institutions, with a strong emphasis on presentations from trainees and junior faculty.
Topics will span stem cells in native niches, 3D models of human biology, cancer, and translational applications. With participation from institutions including Mount Sinai, Columbia, Cornell, NYU, and Einstein, the event is expected to draw a highly engaged academic and industry audience.
COREdinates will also be present to represent the stem cell CORE facilities across New York and highlight their role in supporting this vibrant research community.

The award recognizes outstanding contributions that strengthen the scientific community and advance the responsible translation of stem cell research for public benefit. Through shared standards, protocol harmonization, benchmarking, and international collaboration, the networks have helped build a globally integrated ecosystem for pluripotent stem cell science—strengthening rigor, reproducibility, and equitable access worldwide.
The award will be presented at the ISSCR 2026 Annual Meeting in Montréal, Canada.
Nobel Laureate Mario R. Capecchi to Deliver Keynote Address at the 9th Stem Cell COREdinates Annual Meeting
January 15, 2026
We are honored to announce that Mario R. Capecchi, PhD, recipient of the 2007 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine and a pioneering figure in genome engineering, will serve as the keynote speaker at the 9th Stem Cell COREdinates Annual Meeting, to be held February 4–6, 2026, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Dr. Capecchi is internationally recognized for his groundbreaking work in the development of gene targeting in mammalian cells, a foundational technology that has transformed biomedical research and enabled precise genetic manipulation in model organisms, including pluripotent stem cell–based systems widely implemented across COREdinates member cores.
